Janis Ellison is a native Californian and a signature pastel artist who specializes in Plein Air and Landscape painting. She has been an artist for more than 20 years. The last 14 years she has worked exclusively in Pastel and Oil and has developed an evolving style that captures the essence and the beauty of Nature.

A signature member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico and Sierra Pastel Society, she has been juried into numerous national shows in New Mexico, Oregon, Florida and California. Janis's paintings have also been published in The "Pastel Artists International" magazine (July/Aug 2002). She has won numerous prestigious awards in local, regional, and national shows. Janis has been represented by galleries in Ashland, Napa Valley wine country, Sacramento, Bay Area and Northern California.

She has studied with many of the Pastel and Oil Masters: Richard McKinley, Albert Handell, Gil Dillinger, Richard McDaniel, Clark Mitchell, and Bob Rohm. She is an active member in Pastel Society of the West Coast, Northwest Pastel Society, and has a passion for Plein Air Painting in the tradition of the Impressionists. Janis is a credentialed teacher and offers pastel classes and workshops.
