Art has always been a part of my life, sometimes in the forefront and sometimes on the back burner, but always present.

While attending teacher's college in NY as a math major, I was very attracted and drawn to its outstanding art program. I couldn't fight my interest in it and eventually switched majors, which I have never regretted. I graduated with a degree in Art Education, taught elementary and junior high art classes, as well as adult education. I continue to be fascinated with art and developing my abilities.

What I like about the process of painting is that it is work and pleasure simultaneously. Each painting provides unique challenges and endless possibilities. There is a definite sensual pleasure in manipulating the paint on the paper, playing with color, the juiciness of the paint and the satisfaction when it all comes together.

Though I paint other subjects, my passion is describing the expressive shapes, lines, personality and character of the human figure. Color is my other love affair and is probably the reason I paint.

I hope my paintings convey a connection with the subject, and that the viewer experiences enjoyment, at times humor, and appreciation of my interpretation.
